History of Technology Development

Janya, a SBA designated small, woman-owned company, is a leader in text analytics, machine learning, and information extraction technologies providing solutions for the DoD, intelligence, law enforcement communities and other government markets.

Janya is headed by Rohini Srihari who, as founder and chief scientist at Cymfony, has been involved since 1995 in developing the Semantex platform for information extraction and natural language processing. In order to focus on government markets and further develop this technology, Janya was spun off from Cymfony in 2005. The DoD has sponsored this effort for more than 10 years, totaling over $14 million in funding, primarily through contracts from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).

Janya has extensive experience integrating this technology into larger information systems through collaborative efforts with system integrators such as General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS).
